Description

Our natural geranium essential oil for detergents is extracted from the plant with the botanical name Geranium macrorrhizum. In international practice the product is designated as Geranium natural essential oil for detergents. Its composition includes only the volatile fraction of the plant raw material, collected from the mountain plantations, and remains there without preservatives and without colourants. The fraction remains fully natural, because the plantations grow naturally and receive only water and light during their entire vegetation period. The natural fraction forms a fresh olfactory character with sweet, woody and herbaceous nuances. The olfactory character is combined with a liquid consistency, mobile throughout the whole volume. The consistency reveals a yellow-greenish colour, which comes from the green pigments of the leaves. The leaves remain the only part used, while the rest of the green mass of the plant stays outside the extraction. Steam distillation separates the light molecules from the leaf tissues, so the odour of the finished liquid reaches a clean and clearly defined line. The clean line makes the olfactory profile recognisable. Specialised studies assign germacrone first place among the sesquiterpenes in the oil, alongside which light monoterpene compounds are present in the overall profile. Germacrone carries the woody depth of the scent. The plant belongs to the family Geraniaceae, and its related species form a thick creeping rhizome and a soft leaf carpet on the forest floor. The leaf carpet develops in Bulgaria, where the species occupies shady and moist slopes in the middle mountain belt. The Bulgarian origin remains the only one for the raw material of the geranium oil.

Application
The geranium Pelargonium graveolens is used in the production of cleaning and hygiene detergents, where its floral-rosy aroma gives freshness and a pleasant note to the final products. The essential oil enters formulations for air fresheners, natural cleaning liquids, disinfectants and multipurpose sprays. It is applied in the development of natural and organic household hygiene products without aggressive synthetic components. The oil is combined with lavender, tea tree and eucalyptus for products with a pronounced natural and antibacterial profile. It is included in cleansing cosmetic formulas and personal hygiene products with a floral accent. Storage

Store natural geranium essential oil in a dark, cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Maintain a temperature from +5°C to +20°C to prevent oxidation and the loss of beneficial properties. After opening, limit the amount of air in the packaging, and when the content decreases, pour the remainder into a smaller, clean and dry bottle. Use only aluminium or glass bottles for detergents, preferably of dark glass, which protect the oil from light. Close tightly after each use so that air and moisture do not penetrate.
